Safeguarding at Kripa Blossom Children’s Home

At Kripa Blossom, the safety and wellbeing of our children sit at the heart of everything we do. We believe every child deserves to feel protected, valued and heard, and we work every day to create an environment where they can thrive with confidence.

Safeguarding isn’t just a policy for us—it’s a promise. Our team is dedicated to preventing harm in all its forms, including abuse, neglect, exploitation and radicalisation. Through thoughtful practice, compassionate care and clear, consistent processes, we make sure every child knows they are safe, supported and never alone.

We work in full alignment with national safeguarding legislation and guidance, including:
• The Children Act 1989 and 2004
• Working Together to Safeguard Children (statutory guidance)
• The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015
• Keeping Children Safe in Education (where applicable)

These frameworks shape our practice and ensure the highest standards of safety, care and accountability within our home.

Safer Recruitment & Staff Vetting

At Kripa Blossom, we take great care in choosing the right people to support the children in our home. Every member of our team goes through a thorough and thoughtful recruitment process to ensure they are safe, skilled and genuinely committed to our values.

All staff undergo:

  • Enhanced DBS checks
  • Right to Work verification
  • Full employment history checks
  • Safeguarding competency assessment
  • Ongoing safeguarding training and refreshers

Our safer recruitment framework ensures that only suitable, qualified and values‑driven individuals become part of our team.

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) has overall responsibility for safeguarding and child protection within the home. They provide clear leadership, guidance and reassurance to both staff and children.

The DSL is responsible for:

  • Managing safeguarding referrals and child protection concerns
  • Working closely with the Local Authority and the Hampshire      Safeguarding Children Partnership
  • Liaising with the Police and other statutory or external agencies
  • Referring allegations involving staff to the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) if ever required
  • Notifying Ofsted of significant safeguarding incidents
  • Ensuring all safeguarding information is recorded accurately and promptly
  • Offering ongoing advice, support and oversight to staff

Every staff member understands their responsibility to report concerns immediately, without delay, so children remain protected at all times.

Partnership Working

Safeguarding is most effective when agencies work together. Kripa Blossom collaborates closely with the Hampshire Safeguarding Children Partnership (HSCP) and other key professionals to ensure children receive coordinated and consistent protection.

Our partnership work includes:

  • Following local safeguarding procedures and thresholds
  • Attending multi‑agency meetings
  • Taking part in strategy discussions
  • Sharing information lawfully and appropriately
  • Cooperating fully with safeguarding investigations

By working hand‑in‑hand with local authorities, police, schools, and health services, we help create a strong network of safety around every child.

Reporting a Concern

If you have a concern about the safety or wellbeing of a child at Kripa Blossom:

  • Speak directly to the Registered Manager
  • Contact the Hampshire Safeguarding Children      Partnership (HSCP)
  • In an emergency, call 999

All concerns are treated seriously, recorded properly and acted upon without hesitation.

Culture of Safeguarding

We are proud to foster a culture where safeguarding is understood, embraced and lived out every day.

Within our home:

  • Children feel safe, supported and listened to
  • Staff confidently challenge poor practice
  • Whistleblowing is encouraged and respected
  • Everyone takes responsibility for keeping children safe

Openness, transparency and accountability guide everything we do.
